Lusaka, 9 November 2018: The Levy Mwanawasa Regional Centre for Democracy and Good Governance (LMRC) held a Staff Capacity Building Seminar on Resource Mobilization on 9th November, 2018 in its Conference Room. The main objective was to build capacity of LMRC Staff in resource mobilization to effectively contribute to achieving the mandate of the organization, that of being the Technical and Scientific Organ of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region. The meeting was graced by the Regional Centre’s Executive Director, Dr. Frank Okuthe who emphasized the need for the organization to mobilise adequate resources for programme activities in line with its 2017- 2021 Strategic Plan. He also encouraged members of staff to continue operating as a family as it creates a conducive environment for social development and cooperation within the organization.
The seminar was facilitated by Ms Cheelo Kopakopa, Program Assistant for Operational Research and Partnerships. It focused on exploring methods LMRC Staff could use to access Calls for Proposals, results based management and sharpening LRMC Staff’ Skills on Concept Note/ Proposal development. It is expected that following the training, LMRC Staff shall generate proposals that can withstand the competitive and technical selection procedures by various donors in order to mobilise adequate resources for programmes. Additionally, LMRC staff deliberated on other issues regarding resource mobilization through a plenary discussion.
In closing the seminar, Dr. Frank Okuthe remarked that the Regional Centre is result-oriented hence the need for its staff to remain competent and committed in establishing strategies that continue to contribute to the achievement of the organization’s mandate.
