The ICGLR Regional Inter-Ministerial Committee (RIMC) convenes in the quest for finding lasting solutions to peace and security challenges in the region

Brazzaville, 15th October 2019: The International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) Regional Inter-Ministerial convened on 15th October 2019 in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo. The Meeting comprised of Ministers of Foreign Affairs or their representatives from ICGLR Member States. Other participants included Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary General to the Great Lakes Region, the ICGLR Executive Secretary and other ICGLR Secretariat Senior Officers. The Executive Director Dr Frank Okuthe represented the Levy Mwanawasa Centre for Democracy and Good Governance.

The objectives of the RIMC were to analyse political and security situation in the region and adoption of the report of the Experts meeting on the Ebola outbreak. The meeting also discussed on the next Chair of ICGLR and the hosting of the 2019 Ordinary Summit. The meeting was preceded by the National Coordinators’ meeting from 13th – 14th October 2019.

At the end of the meeting, participants prepared and adopted the RIMC report and also discussed on the hosting of next RIMC meeting.
